of buses and early mornings

The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it
-William James-

started uni.
started waking up early.
started walking.
started bus-ing?
started thinking.

it doesn't matter where you are, what matters is what you do with your time there.
i'll wait for what happens next =)

life's wheel of fortune

found some pretty cool quotes online. helped me a lot. hope it does the same for some of you.

In the game of life it's a good idea to have a few early losses, which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maintain an undefeated season. -Bill Baughan

Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it. -Tom Lehrer

so, if you think that life cannot possibly be worst than it is now, just remember the first quote
and if you think that we have no say or no control over our lives or destinies, think of the second.

we are who we want to be.
we are who we make ourselves to be.

funny quotes

here are a few things i found really funny, said by people i actually know.

1. i was teaching bm to Li-Jin and we were learning about kata adjektif and we were at words describing feelings. and it came to the word sedih, and i asked him to translate, he didnt know. so i decided to try this :

alithea : you cry when you are....?
li-jin : gay?

i couldnt stop laughing. he's face was priceless.

2. ann and i went to see 'Crazy little thing called love' in my church yesterday. and then we met up with pree to go out for dinner, then we were walking around BV. went into Zara and looked around at things we know we cannot afford. pree picked up a dress with a plunging neckline.

alithea : wah, so low.
annora : she wants to show her ni-nis *big grin*

it was so funny. we now have a new word, courtesy of annora ong.

3. this just happened just now. apparently my singing is very audible to my roommates even though im pretty sure i toned it down.

*on msn* we stay in the same room but we find technology more convenient than talking. LOL

wendy : is that elliot too? *i was sing a missy elliot song earlier*
alithea : now? its oasis, wonderwall
wendy : tsk tsk, my bad. i shall tune in more to ali.fm

my own radio? im not sure whether i should feel honoured or insulted. haha
i'll take it as a compliment. =)

here are some from people i dont know.

1. Girls are like phones. We love to be held, talked to but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected!

2. The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on - robert bloch

and finally, from the genius himself :

3. you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try' - Homer Simpson

critical analysis

ok, i actually dont really have anything to write. but since i have sort of neglected my blog here for a very long time, i might as well, put something in.

i was watching step up 2 yesterday, after it took forever to download.
it was ok lah, must be very honest, it wasnt as good as the prequel.
step up is suppose to be all about dancing, but suddenly the 2nd one was all full of 'other' things.
anyway, one good point was that the final dance was awesome! the music and the whole she-bang was just off the chart. made me want to dance too. LOL

i dont know if anyone noticed, but when moose was dancing alone, his moves were from michael jackson. and he did sort of looked like him. anyway, that was the trivia of the day.

here's something i thought would provoke some mind thinking.
i'll leave you guys with something i changed from A Walk to Remember :-

some things are just like the wind,
you can't see it,
but you know it's there.

directions

i have just learnt that i have a pretty good sense of direction.
i can just hear my sis going "self praise is NO praise" with her lala hairstyle.
internally, i'll be laughing at her mushroom fringe. kids these days. sigh.

anyway, its been awhile since i wrote something funny. so yeah about directions.
if you ask me how to go somewhere, this is what i will reply :

"it's somewhere, near somewhere."

which is not entirely wrong if you come to think of it. just maybe it's not that accurate and you might not find what you were looking for. =D

quote of the day :

rachel : i need to put the photos in the vision thing.
alithea : WE are the VISION thing *with low dramatic voice* i can do it for you. *big smile*

apparently it was a very Matrix heavy black coat swishing moment according to Regina. LOL

packages

good things come in small packages, but the best things are free.

i've met so many people this past few weeks and got to know them more in cf camp.
i guess being in a completely different surrounding really builds character. and it lets you know that you're can be scared sometimes and not always tough. (Xena warrior princess?)

small packages, small packages.
some dedications as i had not enough time to thank everyone during my sharing. (or for some people who didnt pay attention)
to name a few :

wen jo, my little creative partner.
love working with you and i admire your zest and passion for God. you're one action-pack when it comes to brain-storming for creative ideas. love your notices and i thank you for covering for me during all the busy-ness with the camp booklet and name-tags =)

pik wen, my support buddy.
cant thank you enough for lending me a helping hand during night hike, especially in the water. without you, i think i would have been 'swept away' and for being a very nice angel. and the words of encouragement you gave me when i was dead scared of leeches. thanks.

chee yip! games coordinator.
your team and the games you came up with were fantastic and games was the one thing i enjoyed the most. finding your umbrella was pretty cool. some say it was dumb luck, coz i wasnt really looking for it, it was just there as Devina and I walked pass the car. LOL continue to jaga your wife. haha

regina. asst. camp commandant.
learnt so much from you, and i will continue to learn more. had so much fun during camp with you. thanks for hearing me out, and for not judging before you heard my part of the story. thanks for always looking out for me and always being there. and i know i can be quite inconsiderate, thanks for putting up with it, with all the patience in the world. =) and whatever was said between us i hope would just be between us. thanks a bunch!

david. buddy waddy.
there are still issues unresolved and i know that we'll talk it through. i guess we really learn to put up with one another, in situations like this. and i just want to thank you for giving me this opportunity to mature and grow as a person in God. your passion for God is awesome and something i really look up to.

keen wai. the-guy-who-broke-joseph's-leg.
kidding. yeah its true. i read joseph's blog and i know you felt really bad about everything, but i also know that you had fun. *first hand account* thanks for putting up with my clumsy-ness during stream-trotting and all my little quirks about the water and leeches. thanks for looking out for me and always emo-ing with me. LOL. had a lot of fun. =)

rachel SOH! randomness #1.
your message on the last night to me was the bomb! and i was still buzzing about it when i got back. got to know you more and it was awesome. still trying to remember my karipuff song. glad you liked it and when one's hungry anything tastes good.

CJ "im so proud of you, alithea!"
will never forget the leech on your leg neither the word of encouragement you gave me. i really like you russel peter's joke. couldnt stop laughing. noticed that you always have a sunday school song during worship and i really like that, brings back memories. working with you was really cool and i know you're 'HOT' .will work with you for easter too. =)

melanie! "i duuno"
sorry i didnt get to reply your note during camp. but thanks. working with you have been a blast and will never forget our sleepovers. had a lot of fun in camp with you though i didnt get to talk to you much.

li sia. missing-in-action.
kena spam from you at night during committee meeting. but anyway, miss you loads and we missed you at camp. hope everything is going on good in your new place, i know it wont be the same because we are all not there. keep burning for God and God bless!!!

antony!!! driver #1
almost forgot about you. thanks so much for driving me around. i promise i'll get around to driving soon enough. had a lot of fun, with games and you as joseph lum was very believable. heard alisson talked to you about trials. she didnt tell me. and im suppose to be her sister. anyway, thanks for everything.

shout out to :
cassandra, xin ying, michelle, ian, eric, mark, javan, pj, gabe, adam, harry, matt, joanna, devina, andrew, yoong jie, pree, eunice, denise, kah yun and everybody. sorry, its late, cant remember all the names.

for those not mentioned, dont be sad. you're permanently in my brain. LOL

just a thought

quote : be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting their own personal battles.

i think the quote says everything. we often only think of ourselves because its so much easier than thinking about others. but a random act of kindness goes a long way and it will always be remembered.

i shall hold on to this, no matter the situation and if it hurts, i know i hurt for the benefit of others.
but having said that, my friend once told me that i should not hurt to benefit just ONE person and hurt others in the process. i think he's right and i know its really not fair to the rest, and eventhough it might hurt telling that person off, i think it'll make me feel so much better and it would in return benefit everyone.

i see myself really growing these past couple of days, as i sit and ponder on the things i've done and the things i've said. i really can be selfish sometimes and dumb. i'm really trying to change and be a better person. as difficult as it might be, and as stubborn i can be, i know that, deep down, i can do it.

oh yeah, almost forgot. my mum agreed with me that i tend not to really show how i feel, and that even though i might care a lot, my actions never really give any real indications. so just to let everyone know, i do care, even if i don't really show it. (you know who you are)

anyway, this post means im back from cf camp and will write about cf camp as soon as i can get some pictures from regina, makes it more interesting.hehe.

of graduation night.

something funny was said in the play done by my bunch of friends during graduation night last saturday.

quote of the day.

shaun : you read too much, you know too much and you talk too much. *with all the actions, those who saw, you know what i mean.

i found this so funny. LOL. Shaun was hilarious.
can't get enough of it. hahahahaha

things in mind

there have been a lot of things going on in my mind.
i've been getting pissed very often lately and it's starting to scare me a little.
i really dont know why. maybe its because the lack of rest and sleep is really getting to me. or maybe its because i choose to be cranky. or maybe i just get irritated very easily nowadays.
whatever it is, i really hope it goes away soon.

I MISS MY AFTERNOON NAPS BADLY!

anyway, my quote for the day.

'........the difference between stupid and ignorant [is] that ignorant could learn'
from Alias Grace, by Margaret Atwood.

the novel is kinda sick, like the joker.
batman was really cool!

'why so serious?'
