that of which we call time

have you ever wondered what it would be like if we could turn back time?
pick up a clock and turn the hands and the day will go back a few hours?

a few days?
a few months?
a few years?

would we be able to change certain things that we wished never happened?

when i was younger and i used to get my fair share of scoldings, and there would always be one recurring silent wish, the wish to turn back time, to happier times.
where everyone smiled and where there was no tears, no screaming, just happy times. where i didnt do that silly mistake or be all naughty.

but does it really work that way?
does time really work that way?
what would changing the past do to the present? or even the future.
would we be the same person we are today, or just a person meant to be fixed it the future.
mended by ourselves.
will we be able to stumble and then pick ourselves up again without the knowledge that we can 'better' the past in the future.

what i really think is that because we cant change what we said or done in the past, really teaches us to live in the present. and take things as they come.
yeah of course, we reminisce about the 'last times' and how great it was compared to 'current times' but what we really forget when we start comparing and benchmarking 'now' and 'then' is that by doing that we will never be satisfied with what we have now.
the chance to be standing, and experiencing everything in the present.
making mistakes and learning from them.

take the days as they come, and leave tomorrow, for tomorrow and the past in the past.
we cant change the things we have done, we just have to live with it, and try correcting them as best we can.

let tomorrow worry for itself.
life is short, start living it!

nothing like the weekend

i should have written this on Sunday, but was kinda busy studying for THREE test which only 2 took place on monday. but still stress all the same. so that's why i wanted to amuse myself by putting up funny quotes.

anyway, here are a few things i did during the weekend.
1. went and watch 'Crazy little thing called LOVE' with annora at my church on saturday.

this play or multi-sketch play was awesome and i recommend it to everyone. it rocks and you'll laugh your hearts out. i like billy, lost in transmission, be real and all the rest.
you'll understand what i mean when you go and watch it.

had a really crazy saturday. after watching the play, we met up with pree and had dinner in bangsar. decided to walk around BV, then we headed to my apartment because pree wanted to watch '10 things i hate about you'. then after the movie, we talked to like 3am in the morning.
dont worry, i made sure she reached home safely. =D

ok the next day.
2. woke up at 11am *i can see my mum shaking her head*, coz i slept so late. studied abit then got a call from pree about going out to have a quick lunch. said yeah, why not. when to have roti canai, long time already. had a craving. lol

then around 2 something when back home, took a shower and got ready to see the funniest show out there : Gamarjobat.
with antony, ruben and joewin. i have no idea what it means but the name is already funny in itself.

ketch! and hiro-pon
they were hilarious i tell you. worth every cent i paid.
i loved the penguin dance. so funny. i cannot rave more about them.
if you ever get a chance to see them performance, GO!
you'll roll on the floor laughing. i guarantee you. go youtube them, you'll be hooked.
when ruben and i were in the lift going down to the carpark, guess who we bummed into? hiro-pon, i think that's the guy with the yellow mohawk's name. just know that it was the guy with the yellow mohawk we saw. lol. but i whipped out my phone too slow to get a picture with him. sad. oh well.
then after that we when to makan at La Bodega in bangsar, and pree joined us. joewin had a fun time looking through the drinks menu in the restaurant. took a few pictures. then headed to the cars. and the guys were talking about booking futsal courts and being conned. i had no idea what they were talking about, but i sort of got the gist of it : they all didnt like being conned. and the system there is very BAD! lol

anyway, i had a really well-spent weekend. had a lot of fun. =) and laughs.
your weekend cant get any better than this.

funny quotes

here are a few things i found really funny, said by people i actually know.

1. i was teaching bm to Li-Jin and we were learning about kata adjektif and we were at words describing feelings. and it came to the word sedih, and i asked him to translate, he didnt know. so i decided to try this :

alithea : you cry when you are....?
li-jin : gay?

i couldnt stop laughing. he's face was priceless.

2. ann and i went to see 'Crazy little thing called love' in my church yesterday. and then we met up with pree to go out for dinner, then we were walking around BV. went into Zara and looked around at things we know we cannot afford. pree picked up a dress with a plunging neckline.

alithea : wah, so low.
annora : she wants to show her ni-nis *big grin*

it was so funny. we now have a new word, courtesy of annora ong.

3. this just happened just now. apparently my singing is very audible to my roommates even though im pretty sure i toned it down.

*on msn* we stay in the same room but we find technology more convenient than talking. LOL

wendy : is that elliot too? *i was sing a missy elliot song earlier*
alithea : now? its oasis, wonderwall
wendy : tsk tsk, my bad. i shall tune in more to ali.fm

my own radio? im not sure whether i should feel honoured or insulted. haha
i'll take it as a compliment. =)

here are some from people i dont know.

1. Girls are like phones. We love to be held, talked to but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected!

2. The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on - robert bloch

and finally, from the genius himself :

3. you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try' - Homer Simpson

life's little challenges

i was dragged into bio class today, by piriya. just because i didnt have econs.
and when i say drag, i mean drag.
piriya is actually pretty strong, for someone that skinny.
she really can man-handle you. now i know how david must have felt.LOL
maybe its those bionic arms of her's. how can i ever compete with metal?

so as payback, i made her come for lit class, as she didnt have physics.
but she wasnt that difficult to convince when it came to joining the class.
pree participated in our quizzes and i think she had fun. lit class is always fun. =D
anyway, it was a pretty fun day altogether.

and now to something i have been thinking lately.
my business studies lecturer asked the class this question, and i felt the answer pretty awesome, made me feel smarter and all philosophical :

'what is the one thing constant in our lives?' - (besides God)

i didnt know the answer, so i said things like life? death?
then my lecturer said that the one thing that is always constant in our lives is change. and to think of it, its so true. everything is evolving each day, changing bit by bit. like how we grow older and wiser with every new experiences in life.
the juxtaposition of the word constant and change just made it all the more amazing. it was very enlightening. =)

but my 'changes' haven't been all peachy. and it is at times like this, i feel lost in my own actions and silences. and the only thing i want is for the floor to open and swallow me whole.

i said this once to david, "i cant wait for change."
then he said, "why are you running away from your problems, by wanting change?"
*i may have quoted wrongly, but that's the gist lah*
so it got me thinking. i guess that's life's little challenges.
like my mum always say, its something everyone has to go through, sooner or later. its part of growing up.

'....but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold for me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing i do : Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 3 : 12-14

ps, and this is no permission for others to send me tags ar, its very tedious.
but if i have the time, i'll humour you guys. LOL

critical analysis

ok, i actually dont really have anything to write. but since i have sort of neglected my blog here for a very long time, i might as well, put something in.

i was watching step up 2 yesterday, after it took forever to download.
it was ok lah, must be very honest, it wasnt as good as the prequel.
step up is suppose to be all about dancing, but suddenly the 2nd one was all full of 'other' things.
anyway, one good point was that the final dance was awesome! the music and the whole she-bang was just off the chart. made me want to dance too. LOL

i dont know if anyone noticed, but when moose was dancing alone, his moves were from michael jackson. and he did sort of looked like him. anyway, that was the trivia of the day.

here's something i thought would provoke some mind thinking.
i'll leave you guys with something i changed from A Walk to Remember :-

some things are just like the wind,
you can't see it,
but you know it's there.
