not just another day

i've celebrated birthdays numerous times, heck, i have celebrated 19 birthdays now.
and you kinda get use to the fact that you're actually getting older.
as dreadful as it sounds, its actually not that bad. =)

all birthdays are usually the same.
like having a nice sit-down dinner with family members and friends.
then, singing 'happy birthday'
blowing the candles, cutting the cake, and then eating the cake.
then we chat about. people asking you how it feels like to be one year older.
the usual stuff.

but what makes every birthday special and different, is not the different cakes you eat or the places you go. but its actually the people you're with, celebrating your birthday.

i was born on the 27th of Nov.
and every year on that date, i'll blow out candles, knowing that im one year older.
but this year's birthday was a little bit different, one may call it a birthday to remember. though its not a big deal, my friends took the effort to make it a big deal, in a good way. =)
and i love them for that.
we went for movies, ate at secret recipe, played pool.
ruben dared me to do some crazy stuff.
like walking up to a complete stranger and asking him to wish me 'happy birthday'
now, come to think of it, it wasn't that crazy, but i was scared and shy nonetheless.

i just don't know why, but this birthday was really different and awesome.
maybe, its because it may be the last birthday i'll have with them, with all of them.
or that they took the effort to make it special.
or that they really got me presents that were made very personal.
something that is so me. =)
but i think, it was just because they were all there with me.

again, thanks guys. it really means a lot!!!!

and happy birthday to me. hehe.

up there

last tuesday a bunch of us from 0707 went to genting.
i know its a bit late, but got malaysian studies exam to study for mah. but anyway, it was one trip i'll remember for a life time.
i think pictures would explain better.

lets start from the beginning.so we ate at McD's for breakfast, waited for the bus, and got off the bus at genting

then of course is off to the cable car.

finally arrived, wanted to start slow. so we went for the swing swing thing-ie.

then i wanted to have my heart stuck at my throat. so we went for the solero shot.

see my terrified face? so much for starting mild. came down with jelly legs.
then we went for cyclone.

shaun looks like a fish, rumman being all macho, the twins well, they like to be different.

then we set the corkscrew. sorry no pictures. then the rest went for some water ride, got all basah, and were shivering in the cold. fortunately, regina, annora, and me decided to sit a calm ride to get some shut eye - the ferries wheel. and we went window shopping too. =D
then they sat the pirate ship.

they sat for the spiderman coaster thing also.
anyway, after that, me and regina started to take funny pictures with the red phonebooth as our prop. =D

then we went and played the laser mirror maze thing. i could really pass of as a spy.

anyway, thats all. i think i have already summarized the whole trip. and there are a lot of pictures too. then we had to rush back coz we were afraid we'd miss the bus. coz we were all so engrossed with all the fun and excitement.
but overall it was awesome. it was worth the skipping class. well technically, i didnt have class. (the advantages of having small classes) so, yeah. awesome trip =)

the sky was not so nice. but the balloon had fun anyway. the yellow balloon's name is banana by the way.

even balloons need to be up to date with current events.

nothing like jiving in the library with a very bright yellow balloon.

a little love goes a long way =D

annora was the camera girl =)

life's wheel of fortune

found some pretty cool quotes online. helped me a lot. hope it does the same for some of you.

In the game of life it's a good idea to have a few early losses, which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maintain an undefeated season. -Bill Baughan

Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it. -Tom Lehrer

so, if you think that life cannot possibly be worst than it is now, just remember the first quote
and if you think that we have no say or no control over our lives or destinies, think of the second.

we are who we want to be.
we are who we make ourselves to be.

invincible

stumbled across something while watching a show, and liked it. thought of sharing it with you guys.

Invictus
-William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate :
I am the captain of my soul.

i guess, it tells us to pick ourselves up again, when we fall.
hold on and stand up for yourself,
don't give up,
even how painful,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

-invictus in latin means invincible
